LEADER is an action program of the European Union that has been promoting innovative actions in rural areas since 1991. Local action groups draw up local development concepts. The aim is to support Europe's rural regions on their way to independent development. Due to its successful use as a so-called Community Initiative between 1991 and 2005, the LEADER approach has been included in mainstream funding as an independent priority since 2006.

GRW-RIGA is the guideline of the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport for the promotion of the commercial economy including the tourism industry within the framework of the joint task "Improvement of the regional economic structure".

GRW-Infra is the guideline for the promotion of business-related infrastructure within the framework of the joint task "Improvement of the regional economic structure".

With the Federal Transnational Cooperation Program, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI) supports Interreg projects with thematic priorities of particular federal interest that contribute to sustainable spatial development.
